Come On In! The Schadenfreude's Fine!

As the next gathering of the GOP Klown Kar approaches, the occupants are busily sniping at one another; or, to be more precise, they're sniping at one occupant: The Chinchilla-Haired Trumpoline.

For the most part, of course, they're simply returning fire. The Yooge Trumpet has, after all, knocked them collectively and individually.

The latest passenger in the Klown Kar to feel the Wrath of Kah-Trump is Dr. Ben Carson. Carson's sin is to be placing second to Trump in a number of polls. And that's enough to earn him the ire of The Man With A Tribble On His Head:

“Ben Carson is a very, very nice man,” Trump told CBS, before sticking the knife in. He said a Carson presidency would “not be a good situation. He’s not a dealmaker. He’s not a negotiator. The president has to bring wealth back into our country – Ben can’t do that.” Only Trump could make 'very, very nice man...' sound like a mortal insult. But Carson, probably wisely, isn't rising to the bait: Trump’s put-down of Carson was perhaps to be anticipated, given the imminence of the Reagan library debate and the billionaire’s desire to get his shots in early. A new poll from CBS News conducted in the early primary and caucus states underlined the fact that, at least for now, Carson appears to be the only candidate who has found a way to pierce the Trump media noise and challenge him.

In the poll, Carson is captured snapping at Trump’s heels in Iowa, at 25% to Trump’s 29% support among Republican likely caucus voters. He also comes second to Trump in New Hampshire (40% Trump, 12% Carson) and South Carolina (36%, 21%).

One of the many baffling features of Carson’s sudden rise is that the more that Trump bellows, the quieter and more measured the neurosurgeon sounds. On Sunday, he refused to rise to the Trump bait.

Asked by ABC News for his response to Trump’s caustic remark over the weekend that he lacked energy, Carson said he was unbothered by it.

“I recognise I have plenty of energy,” he said. “You don’t have to be loud to be energetic.”

Fair enough. If only Carson weren't a crackpot who thinks that the Affordable Care Act is 'worse than slavery' and America has 'become like Nazi Germany'. But he is and he does.

Also sticking it to Trump is some guy named Pataki, another candidate for the GOP nomination. Who knew? Pataki tweeted:

   — George E. Pataki (@GovernorPataki)     September 13, 2015

Let me be very plain, I'm not going to vote for @RealDonaldTrump ...He is unfit to be president @chucktodd @meetthepress @foxnewssunday #MTP

Pataki's unease was echoed by another clueless no-hoper, Louisiana Gov. Piyush 'Bobby' Jindal, the evolution-denying, climate change-rejecting, budget-destroying dolt whose favorability ratings in his own state are underwater and heading for the ocean floor.

According to The Guardian:

In his speech, Jindal called Trump a “narcissist and egomaniac”, whom he said was “unserious and unstable”.

“Donald Trump is for Donald Trump,” Jindal said, adding in reference to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan: “Donald Trump is not for making America great. Donald Trump is for making Donald Trump great.”

Jindal even dipped into some of Trump’s trademark insult comedy, saying: “You may have recently seen that after Trump said the Bible is his favorite book. He couldn’t name a single Bible verse or passage that meant something to him.

“And we all know why, because it’s all just a show, and he hasn’t ever read the Bible. But you know why he hasn’t read the Bible? Because he’s not in it.”

He also avoided a commitment to supporting Trump if he were to secure the Republican nomination, saying “he cannot be our nominee”, and predicted that if Trump did become the Republican standard bearer in 2016, he would “implode” and “hand the election to Hillary Clinton”.

Trumps response (which you have to love, odious as he is): “I only respond to people that register more than 1% in the polls,” he said. “I never thought he had a chance and I’ve been proven right.” Ouch.

Self-certified 'Dr' Rand Paul got in a side-blow, whilst mourning the demise of Gov. Rick 'Oops' Perry's campaign. Tweeted Paul:

— Dr. Rand Paul (@RandPaul) September 11, 2015

What does it say about GOP when a 3 & half term Gov w/ a successful record of creating jobs bows out as a reality star leads in the polls?

I think what it says, Randy, is that you GOP idiots can't wrap your empty heads around the concept of 'unintended consequences'. You and your gang of Tea Party loons made this possible. Enjoy! With attacks between the remaining 16 candidates growing ever more personal and vitriolic, there is clearly anxiety within the party establishment about the fodder this will provide for Democratic attack adverts come the presidential election proper.

On Sunday the chairman of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, reminded the candidates that loose talk in the primary battle can cost votes on election day.

Appearing on CNN, he evoked the memory Mitt Romney’s disastrous comments in 2012 about “self-deportation” of immigrants and about the 47% of the people who Romney said would vote for Obama “no matter what”.

Priebus said: “Each candidate is going to be responsible for their own words and their own mouth, so they should proceed with caution.”

Yeah...good luck with that, Rancid. Me, I haven't had this much fun since the last GOP Klown Kar came to town.
